Library

3 day cycle has passed and I'm still a homeless. Now I am doubting if my positive thinking should be replaced by anxieties. As I asked around for help on the first day, everyone seem to have higher expectation of me and was truly surprised by the fact that I am not yet on the front line of a battlefield or something. To save my face, on the first day arriving here, I went to a backyard and stole clothing of my size at night in order to blend in. And that actually worked, I was allowed to attend a free food supply for the homeless. Thankfully no one homeless people here formed a turf or gang, where only certain people can access to the free food. The free food is sponsored by the local church praying to a certain god named Nyejus? Hejuice? Whatever, thank you for blessing oh Lord Juice for your follower who gave me the biological reason for surviving these past days. As for sleeping, I have been sleeping in a barn house meant for homeless people to shelter in. This shelter was sponsored by the local mayor, which I am trully thanked for. Unlike other homeless who doesn't bathe, I usually walked out at night, when the bright moon, locally called Phena, fills a quarter of the horizon and shine the way to a nearby small lake. No one uses the lake at night and no wild animals typically roamed to this area either, so it's pretty safe.

In order to move on from this life of mine, in order to get to the city, I must first find a job. It is certainly impossible to get to the next town, Ares, without proper transportation and supplies, as it takes 4 days to get there. Everyday, I looked for a job opening, but there seem to be lack seeking of employment. I don't care what job it is, I just want a freaking job at this point.

As I walked through the street of cobblestone that I have passed at least three times, I saw a local restaurant in seeking for a full time cook. Without thinking twice if I would want to work in a libary, I barged inside and with confidence I presented myself to the worker that I want in. The owner looked at me with his eyes in dismay and asked, "those clothes, where did you get them from? they look really similar to the ones I lost."

Already losing my confidence in being able to work here, I used my trump card.

"I am a customer here, how could you accuse me like that?"

The chef immediately apologized and walked away. While holding up my nose in realizing how smart I am, I realized I never had the money to spend. With no one looking, I stormed out and ran to the next boulevard.

Oddly enough, I realized I never truly walked down this boulevard with the intention of finding a job. As easy as it is, I found a library seeking a full timer worker. I immediately walked into the nearly torn apart building to learn how different it is in the inside, where books are nicely kept and the floors are clean. Ugly on the outside and beautiful on the inside huh? Somehow that reminds me of.... me.

Without noticing, a post menopausal woman approached me and asked:

"You don't seem to be interested in reading, are you happen to be here for the full time job offer?"

I nodded and her wrinkly, semi-flaky skin, grabbed my soft and delicate hand and pulled me to a room that is also full of books. Is she going to seduce me here? Oh god no. before I could continue my anxiety, she introduced herself. Her name is Maya and she is the only manager of this one and only library in town. There are others who collect books, but they are never around. How did she manage this library by herself? It is three floored and there's apporxiamtely 2000 books per floor. That's when she showed me her guns and packs.... which are somewhat shaggy  looking, but probably enough to do the job. She then further explained that my job is literally to put back returned books to their original slot, and also to find books in the archive incase anyone requested. Very simple job, but boring indeed. With only little introduction on how books are ordered and archived, I was already thrown into the front desk, and since it is a typical slow day, she told me she's going to meet some men. So basically she's just finding someone to replace her so she could go on a date? What can a shaggy and wrinkly body, nearly fall apart, body can entertain? Does she get pleasure from having someone peeling her skin? Makes me wonder if under those flaky skin there hide a beautiful woman.

As I question her life. I begin to question mine. The pay is ~15 copper a day. Since it takes about 10 silver (1000 copper) to get to the next city, it would take me about 100 days of work to get there. But there's also to consider the living cost. 5 copper for a night in a crappy inn, 2 copper per cheap ass meal, since I am no longer a homeless I can get my free church food no more, that means a day I can only save up to ~4 copper a day.... Hold up, that would take about 250 days. Since there's 41 days in a month, and 12 month in a year, I basically going to have to work for about half a year in a library before going onto the next town? Hold up. Does that mean I have to work for another half a year or more to get to the next next town, and another to the next next next town, before getting to the capital?

With my fate sealed to be a librarian forever in a small town, secluded from other part of the world, I truly think I have filled my purpose in this world, and should die at this point.
